I think this might be my favourite picture of the whole bunch. I can't imagine what exactly they were practising when this photo was taken, but their bathing suits are fantastic.

Half Days and Op-Shoppin'

 

Half-days are god sends. Thank you teachers for needing a whole afternoon to decide whether or not you are going to strike. Truly, op-shopping with my Mum all afternoon was a 100 times better than maths and physics. We went to all the lovely little red-cross and salvation army stores that are still run by little old women, are super crowded and not ridiculously overpriced, my favourite kinds.

The fabulous '70s tv dinner tray and table cloth are actually from my workmate, but the fantastic thermos, cup and saucer and 16 (16!) Stitchcraft magazines are all part of this afternoons treasures. I also got a blue wool skirt, red and green scarf, two sixties night-dresses, an old Goosebumps video, and a whole bunch of old knitting patterns.

I adore Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, I adore tea, and I adore saturday afternoons even more. I think weekends need to come around more often.

I realised this week that one of my legs is slightly longer than the other.  People looked at me a little funny when I yelled this out in the middle of class - understandable, it's a little unsettling I will admit. But it's also quite exciting that perhaps there's an actual reason why I casually fall over all the time. I am hoping the other leg will grow soon though. Preferably before I start swing dance classes in a few weeks - uncoordination could prove rather hazardous.

Fashion Films

A fashion film from the '20s and one from 2010. The newer was the deserving winner (chosen by Tavi) of the 'A Shaded View on Fashion' fashion film contest, I love all the models hair - and the perfect white dresses! Such a beautiful contrast is created between the stifling school house type building and the woods. Also, I now desperately need a matching felt hat and bag !

Houses

Just a few fabulous house pictures I've been hoarding for some time. The third one down reminds me of the fantastic movie The Ice Storm, which I saw the other evening. Everything's very intense at school right now, with exams coming up, but not as intense as this blog will be when it gets hit with '70s home decor post I have planned. I have a small obsession with things like matching crochet coasters, so understandably I enjoy (perhaps too much) reading home improvement magazines from yesteryear. Modern neutrals just don't do it for me, I'm afraid.
